Today? Today was Reno's birthday. He wasn't a teenager any more. She was going to tease him a lot about being oooooold.

When he woke up. Because they were celebrating in Fandom this weekend, since his home was kinda depressing (no offense) and her home had everybody in everybody else's business (downside of living in a commune of sorts) and neither would allow for a nice, relaxing weekend spent cuddling and not ever getting out of bed, ever.

Rikku was mostly asleep, and trying to convince herself to go back to all asleep. And wondering if Reno was up. She'd trade "back to sleep" for "morning gropey times" if he was. She was flexible like that.

See, Reno almost didn't want to wake up. Because waking up meant that Reno was officially old. Or something. Nevermind that Reno didn't think Rude was old, and Rude had at least a few years on him.

On the other hand, there was a Rikku in the room with him. That was always a wonderful change of pace, especially when you lived in freaking Edge, and the trade-off for being old was having a hot girlfriend in your arms, wasn't it?

"You sleepin'?" Reno cracked open one eye and looked Rikku's way.

Mmmmm, morning breath! Amazing how you could ignore things like that when you hadn't seen your booooooooyfriend in a while. Which she hadn't. Which sucked. Which was why they were here. That, and a birthday. Because he was oooooooold.

Inori had managed to get her hands on Mom's phone! (Okay, she'd managed by asking but that wasn't the point.)

Now she was poking through the contact list and lighting up like a sunrise when she found Aunt Rikku's number. Mom wouldn't mind if she called, right?

Right? Inori was going to call anyway. She could always blame Angeal if she got in trouble.

This would have been more PG-13, except that Reno had said there were wee ones afoot. Probably not a good idea.

This would hopefully involve the girl spilling some of her personal family life. Enough that Rikku might have some idea who was on the phone.

Aww, she sounded cute. And 'Aunt Rikku' had such a nice ring to it.

Ino, after making sure that Zack was thoroughly busy explaining the dishes and the menu to two children, who they'd found out, were more fluent in speaking English than in reading it (if Ino had been thinking, then she would've realized it was likely), dialled a number that was first in her speed dial (sorry, Zack, you came second there) and waited patiently for him to pick up.

It was like Reno was collecting phone calls today! Which amused him to no end, because all of the phone calls were rolling in on a day where he was within walking distance of most of his callers.

He found this hilarious. As was his prerogative.

Part of her was, part of her was worried sick over the way Zack reacted whenever Angeal's name came up. In front of the children, and Zack, though she wasn't going to do anything but smile.
