Rikku was bouncing on her toes and packing a small suitcase. Mexico! Mexico! Warm sunny beaches and drinking, in Mexico! She'd never been to Mexico, okay, she'd never heard of Mexico, but still. Any place with liquor and warm sun sounded like heaven right about now.

Her door was wide open for anyone wanting to stop by and chat.

Rikku bounced over to her phone. "Hellooooooooo?"

She was a little giddy, all right?

Reno had to chuckle at that greeting. Damn, happiest person he'd ever met, right there.

"Yo!"

Did he really need to say more for her to know who he was?

"Hi!!" No, totally didn't. And he didn't sound mopey or sad or like he was about to apologize which meant ... "You're coming back??"

"I am! The gems went over real well with the boss, yo. Gonna have to come up with some way to repay you for those."

Meaning, of course, that he had to fork them over. Dammit.

"He took them?" She frowned. She just got another Blessed Gem, dammit. "Seriously gonna owe me for that, zoto."

Small price to pay for getting him back, wasn't it?

... Kind of scary to think of like that.

"Guess that means I'm gonna have to help you get some more, hm? Take a little trip, do your thing, kick some ass or whatever?"

Don't mind that Reno actually sounded anxious to maybe kidnap her sometime to go kill things. It's been entirely too long.

"You any good at mugging, yoto?" she laughed, folding a beach towel and sticking it in her suitcase. "When are you getting back, anyway?"

"Been known to shit-kick people for their stuff in the past," he chuckled. "Gonna be back in the morning, yo. Headed out with Rude tonight. One last night on the town before headin' back to the wonderful world of high school."

"In the morning, really?" She bounced on her toes. And then processed the information. And then facepalmed.

"Oh, wow, you have miserable timing."

Come back to me, but don't come back to me in the morning? What?

"I'm ... kinda ... leaving?" Rikku took a deep breath. "I didn't know you were coming back that soon and I didn't want to mope and it's spring break and there are gonna be beaches and drinking and some place called Mexico? Uh."

"And here I am, doin' paperwork." Reno scowled at the sheets on Rude's desk before returning his attention to the phone. "You leave pretty early in the morning?"

"Sorry?" she said, sheepishly. "Uh. Kinda early, not too bad. It's just for the rest of break and I figured they'd keep you a couple of days and ... y'know."

Seriously. Did enough moping last time. Beaches and drinking.

"You're seriously sorry for goin' out and havin' a good time?" Reno snorted and reached across the desk, grabbing Rude's coffee. Today was a coffee day. "Screw that. You go to Moxy-whatever and have yourself a hell of a time. I'll see you when you get back."

He was giving Rude that 'you're getting me back real early' look, now.
