Rikku was bouncing on her toes, and singing little snippets of Christmas carols. Only bits, because really, she didn't know most of the words. But hey! The bits she did know were pretty snifty.

She was also packing. Packing, woohoo! She'd be back in time for this whole New Year's thing, and - whoa, she'd been at Fandom almost a whole year. Weeeeeeird.

Her door was wide open. If you didn't mind the exuberant singing, that is.

"Since when don't I believe you're a fighter?!??!" Sokka protested. "You're better than ME. And YES, I know you've stared down some scary crap. That yunawhatsit thing was FREAKY."

He bit his lip, thinking.

"... And well, okay, we didn't KILL the sea monster, but we were kind of in a hurry to stop a war."

"Yunalesca?" Rikku considered. "She was ... that was awful. I shouldn't have made you guys fight her. She almost killed me. But there's ... I mean, I don't know if the later fiends were harder than her. Maybe it just seemed like they were easier 'cause we got stronger. How did you guys do with her, anyway?"

"We..." Sokka turned red and scratched at the back of his neck. "Kind of sort of almost won the fight? But if the Omega fiends are easier than her, I shouldn't have any problem.

"I don't know if they are or not," Rikku shrugged. "After her we started doing way more damage. And it's okay, I shouldn't have made you guys fight her. I barely survived it myself."

She sighed. "Look, I just ... I'm being serious. I don't want to bring you along and two days later, you're going "okay, this was stupid, I wanna go back" 'cause I'm not sure you'll be able to and if you get hurt Katara will beat me up."

"No, it's okay, you... Okay. Look. I PROMISE that I'm not going to suck. I know how to fight. And I've started training with Deadpool, too."

Rikku wavered. "We'd be gone a week, you know. Not here celebrating the holiday-things. Off in a dungeon, stealing from monsters and beating them up. You realize that, right?"

"A week when nobody's around anyway. I'd probably spend the whole week in front of the TV otherwise. I mean, it's a nice TV, but no.

Rikku bit her lip. "Okay. All the goodies are mine, no argument on that. You can split the money, both the drops and whatever we get from selling off extra weapons and armor. Do you have a weapon and armor to bring? ... Actually, scratch that. I need to make you guys armor anyway. Normal stuff isn't going to work for this."

"Weapons, no armor," Sokka told her. "My boomerang and club. If you had sold me a gun, I'd have that, too."

Then he scratched his head and looked at her funny. "'Us guys'??? Who else is going?"

"No guns," she said sternly. "Not for you, anyway. I've got one now." There was an extra bounce to that. "Bring your weapons, totally. I can upgrade them if you want. But the armor ... you might need protection against some weird status-things that ... would take way too long to explain."

She waved a hand idly. "Right now, it's just you and me and John Sheppard and Tidus will be there, you met him, right? And Yunie, to heal, and I think Lulu but she might be hanging around here."

Sokka facepalmed. "OHHH. OHHH, you did not... John Sheppard is coming, and you didn't think I'd be able to handle myself? I'm worth, like, three of him."

"He said he could fight," she shrugged. "Knew how to use a weapon and all that. Why, you think he can't?"
