Room 308, Wednesday Evening - Chilling Out

So that Umbridge lady seemed kinda mean, and Hermione certainly hadn't liked her very much. That was bad.

But how much trouble could a principal be? Really. Seriously. Besides, she and her Jude-dude had made up and therefore, all was right with the world. Plus Deadpool hadn't come looking for her yet about the car. That was a bonus.

So Rikku was sprawled out on her bed, humming to herself and bopping a little. And maybe looking over a ... letter. 'Cause tomorrow was Thursday and, well, no reason. Just, you know. Couldn't hurt.

Her door was wide open.

Talking to Jude this morning had made Isabel realize that she hadn't see Rikku in quite a while. Looking for a distraction, she grabbed her bag of Dove chocolates and wandered down to the third floor.

"Knock, knock!"

"Hey! Hiya!" Rikku bounced off the bed and waved Isabel in. "What's new? Oooooooh, chocolates? Score!"

Hyper: On.

Isabel was amused by the contrast between mellow Jude and a somewhat hyper Rikku. "Are you sure you haven't already had a bunch of chocolate?"

Rikku grinned. "Nope. Just hyper." She twirled for effect. "This is why we couldn't give Bayla sugar, yeah? She would've been even worse. I'd be even worse. I'd be totally worse."

She blushed. "I'm, uh, I'm like, rambling, huh?"

"I may live to regret this, but here," Isabel said, holding out the bag of chocolate. "Go nuts."

"There's nothing wrong with rambling. Rambling is fun. Rambling either means you're happy or embarrassed. I'm willing to bet on happy."

"Really?! Thanks!" Rikku popped one of the chocolates in her mouth. "Ooooh! These are awesome! Here, you have some, too, yeah?!"

And then laughed. "Hey, I can totally be both, right? I mean. If you were, you know, all ... feeling stupid about being happy. Or whatever. Not that I am. Okay, I am. Totally obvious. Good week. No, bad week, then it got way better, and, uh, how are you?"

She took some chocolate and unwrapped it, popping it into her mouth. "I'm fine. I saw Jude this morning and realized I hadn't talked to you in a while. So here I am."

"Good week? I'm glad for you."

Rikku got a little bouncy when Isabel mentioned Jude, and then blushed again. "Uh. Yeah. Just, uh, it kinda sucked and then Mel and I blew things up and then Jude and I had kinda been fighting but huge misunderstanding and we're good again and now the only thing that sucks is that that principal lady seems like she's all mean and stuff. But she's just here for a couple weeks, right?"

She munched on another piece of chocolate. "I'll go easy, honest! You should have seen me on Jolt. Ohhhhh, that stuff is so good but then I couldn't sleep you know!?"

"Nothing like therapuetic explosions," Isabel grinned. "Charlie burned stuff for me yesterday. So I understand exactly how you feel." She wondered about the bouncing and the blushing, remembering when thoughts of Greg would make her react in a slightly more low-key, but still fairly similar fashion.

"As far as I know. I'm looking to avoid her if at all possible," she said, making a face.

Isabel's eyes got wide at the thought of Rikku on Jolt. "Oh my god, Jolt?"

It's possible that Aravis was, once again, walking a little oddly, though she was doing her best to cover whenever she caught it. But walking funny or not, she knew she had to go talk to exactly one person about...things.

Which was why Wednesday evening found her tapping at Rikku and Hermione's doorframe as she peeked in. "Evening, Rikku."

"Hi, Aravis!" Rikku bounced. "How are you? How've you been? What's new? What's going on? How are you? Ooooh, I think I did that one twice!"

"I'm...quite good," Aravis said with a smile. "And yes, you did, but perhaps it was for emphasis. How are you?"

"I'm ... I'm wonderful," Rikku said, laughing a little. "I mean, last week, things weren't so good, but right now? Totally, completely wonderful." And promptly blushed. "Is your, uh, is your quite good a wonnnnnderful?"

"Possibly," Aravis remarked, shutting the door behind her, "but I'd have to know why you're blushing, first. Did you enjoy your trip? And did you soundly beat whoever Caitlin is?"

"I'm blushing?" she said, sitting back down on her bed. "Whoa. I am. Uh. It's, uh, it's a sand-thing. You, uh, you knew that, right? And the trip was --"

She looked up at Aravis suddenly. "Whoa. How did you know about Caitlin!?"

"I ran into Jude," she said, leaning against the wall. "He mentioned her and that you had left. He was rather melancholy. I've never seen him that sad, not even when you were helping Valentine."

Rikku bit her lip and looked down. "Oh. I, uh, yeah, that was kinda bad of me? Just she ..." She seethed.. "Decided that me and Jude were too close, in a beige-kinda way, and called me up without him knowing it and called me a hussy and told me that I'd better stop doing things to him and using him because obviously I'm just some stupid whore and not, you know, his girlfriend."

Wow. She hadn't even realized how furious she still was, even now that she and Jude had made up, until the venom started coming out.

Hermione returned to the room with a bag full of things. Most notably, two coconuts, which immediately set her off muttering to herself that two would be overkill.

Rikku waved excitedly to her roommate. "Hiya! Ooooooh. Are you doing an art-thing? Can I help?"

She wrinkled her nose. "I met that Um-whoever today, in class. She's just mean, isn't she?"

"I am most likely earning detention," she half-explained. "Wait, she's going to classes now?"

"Detention?!" Rikku gasped. "Hermione! You never get detention! Are you serious?! And yeah, she came to Aly's class on spying and she said awful things about how the class was inappropriate and she totally acted like she was gonna make her stop teaching and what the hell, isn't she a sub!? Isn't she just supposed to make sure nothing else blows up!??"

"Have you listened to her announcements? She doesn't think of herself as a substitute. She views herself as Principal Washburn's replacement," Hermione said. "I knew she was going to go for that class. She refused to let people do any spells in Defense Against the Dark Arts last year. In an O.W.L.S year! Harry sent me his text. It's rubbish. I haven't been able to get rid of it. If it's not strictly standard, it's not for her."

Rikku shook her head. "I just heard the one this morning, about co-ed rooms. Maybe she's worried people are gonna freak out? I, uh, I kinda missed ... has she been doing other stuff, while I was gone? And that's ridiculous, Principal Washburn will be back as soon as the baby's a little older, right?"

She blinked at Hermione, confused. "Wait a minute. Defense Against ... that's ... that's a protective kinda class, right? That's not ..."

"Yes, exactly. Harry started a sort of club to teach people what they needed to learn, because they weren't going to get it in school," Hermione said with an eyeroll. "Umbridge also tried to limit what people said over radio, and made a public announcement that I am a bit disturbed and should not be listened to. Luckily most people seem to know better and are offering help."

Rikku gaped. "She what!!??!"

And jumped up angrily. "She called you names?! That ... that witch! That's so wrong! You're, like, the best student ever and she's gonna start a war with you then we are so gonna fight back! Is she trying to mess with you? Because I will hurt her!"
