It felt good to laugh. It felt amazing to be laughing, this close to Home. But Home had always been a place of joy, and laughter, and people living on top of one another and bursting out into the hallways. There had been so much life. Home shouldn't be a silent tomb.
She nodded to a sand dune piled particularly high. It was still a few minutes off.
"We came up to there," she said, "and they thought I was lost. I wasn't. This is my desert, you know?"
