As you may have noticed, what with her bouncing around town like an orange-colored spaz, Rikku bought the repair shop in town. She is changing the name to Fixer-Uppers, because she somehow thinks that is a good name. This will be accompanied by the butt-ugliest sign that I can possibly make in Photoshop. Stay tuned.
Services that Fixer-Uppers will include the usual -- repairs for anything that's busted, and research and development, also known as "Rikku and employees tinkering with the workshop to amuse themselves" but there's one new aspect that I wanted to bring up:
Weapon and Armor Upgrades
She has this ability in canon, as well, and she's bringing it here. Fixer-Uppers does not sell weapons, so don't even ask. But if you already possess a weapon and want to spice it up a little -- or if you'd like to get some armor, or upgrade some you already have? We can do that.
(The armor is not in stock in the store itself. It has to be special ordered. Rikku knows a guy.)
To get an idea of what's possible: Weapons and Armor. This is not an exhaustive list -- just the things she can already do in canon. If you want something that's not on the list, we can probably figure something out, so let's talk.
Questions? Comments? Strawberry lemonade?

Date: 2010-09-27 03:53 am (UTC)The short answer: weapons can get elements on them (Firestrike), or status ailments on them (Silencetouch, Stonestrike). You can also increase the strength or the magic, up to 20% each. And then there are some abilities which are one-offs, like Sensor (lets you Scan enemies), Piercing (instant armor-break) or Initiative (more likely to get the jump on enemies).
There are also ones that make magic more cost-effective (more powerful, or less MP to cast) or let you have a free counter to attacks. And a few are really gameplay specific, like the ones that can affect your Limit Break, break the damage limit, or cause enemies to drop specific kinds of loot.
Armor: you get different levels of protection against elements, as well as varying levels for status effects. There are also automatic abilities like Shell (all magic halved) or Protect (same, but physical), Haste, Reflect, and so on. There's also a larger pile of "SOS" abilities -- you get a one-time cast of that spell whenever you are in danger. SOS Shell, or SOS NulTide (you absorb one water attack). You also have stat increases like HP & MP up, or Defense/Magic Defense up. Pickpocket increases your likelihood of theft, No Encounter makes enemies stay away, and Ribbon guards against ALL status effects but good fucking luck getting one.
The more awesome an ability is, the more difficult/expensive shit you need to get it. Something really simple like sensor just requires stuff you have laying around anyway, but Ribbon is impossible because you need 99 Dark Matters, and have fun grinding against insanely-leveled monsters just to get a rare drop of 2.
Is that at all helpful? I'm so doing the detailed post now, zomg. Neeeed.
